Anatomy - General Knowledge

The Human Body in 3D

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I (GP) can't for the life of me think why a general knowledge page on anatomy would be a good index page. I guess I want Personal Trainers and Instructors to have a basic understanding of anatomy. Certainly knowing your major muscle groups and how these work with one another during movement (kinesiology) is a must in my opinion. Also, an understanding of how your body responds/ adapts to certain stimulus. Yes, even the gym newbie will know the primary body part he/ she is working when performing a rudimentary lift, but surely the person instructing should know more, rather than just blindly pulling a workout from a book, or a good website like this. Don't get me wrong, if you're not interested, I'm not expecting you to study the regional atlas of the human body, but certainly a working knowledge of human adaption to types of exercise, and being able to identify major muscle groups and their workings during particular body movements, will benefit both you and your client - hopefully helping you create gym workouts, a plan of periodisation, perform exercises correctly, avoid injury, & improve sporting performance.

To aid with the above endeavors the Gym Professor website has information on all of the above (if not now, in the near future). Please use the search bar at the top of the page to help you navigate. Also, check out our comprehensive eBooks.
