Circumferential Measurements

Measuring Bicep

Given many individuals participation in a new exercise and diet regime is for aesthetic reasons, perhaps a truer indication to adaptation (fitness test wise) is circumferential measurements, rather than weight loss or other fitness test measures.

There are 6 sites for circumferential measurement - Upper Arm, Forearm, Waist, Hips, Thigh, Calf - and you should be relaxed (no tensing muscles or breathing in etc.) when measuring these points. You should measure these areas at their widest point.

I'm afraid there's no reference charts to compare your information in this section, however, you can use the results to track improvements (trend analysis). Make a note of your Waist and Hip measurements and visit Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR).
